The class Gastropoda includes the snails, limpets, whelks, winkles, sea slugs... May be marine, freshwater, or terrestrial. The gastropods are the largest and most successful class of mollusks, with about 100,000 known living species. Their main characteristic is that they have a single spiral shell or valve (snails).
